Our history

Let yourself be seduced by the story of a lemonade born in 1876!

Jules Aubert, until then a preparer at Café Riche in Montpellier, created Aubert lemonades in Lodève in 1876.
Having developed a recipe and an original manufacturing process, responding to the conservation issues of the time, Maison Aubert prospered and took up residence in 1882 in a private mansion in Pézenas: the Hôtel d'Alfonce.
The family will develop there for 4 generations, the lemonades produced by Jules Aubert being awarded prizes in numerous agricultural competitions.

In parallel with the production of soft drinks, the family also developed the distribution of drinks and the sale of ice cream cakes, which led, for logistical reasons and under the leadership of Jean Aubert, great-grandson of the founder, to leave the historic building in 1970 for more suitable premises. First in Pézenas, then in Agde in 1976 and finally Lodève in 1986.

This departure from the Hôtel d'Alfonce thus enabled a thorough restoration of the historic monument which has since made it one of the most renowned private mansions in Pézenas.

During this period, the Aubert establishments acquired numerous competing companies in the Piscénoise region, and became an important player in the distribution of drinks on the Hérault coast.
The Aubert establishments were finally closed and the distribution activities sold in 1993 when Jean Aubert retired.

David Flipo, grandson of Jean Aubert, relaunched himself in the manufacture of Aubert lemonades by once again installing production in the family mansion in 2019.

Today, drinks are made in a nearby workshop, located in the city's artisanal zone. The Hôtel d'Alfonce remains a personal place, full of stories that Maison Aubert holds dear, hence the importance of keeping the direct sales shop for lemonades in these places.
